Assignment 2
Passive Green Building Strategies Report

A Green Building focuses on increasing the efficiency of resource use – energy, water, and materials – while reducing building impact on human health and the environment during the building’s lifecycle, through better site planning, design, construction, operation, maintenance, and removal. Green Buildings should be designed and operated to reduce the overall impact of the built environment on its surroundings.

Objectives

To analyze theories and principles of passive green building design strategies.

To integrate understanding of sustainable design strategies in the development of architectural design.

We are required to develop passive and active green building strategies simultaneously with our final architectural studio project.

Project Outcome

Reflection

After all the analyses in the last assignment, it is time to apply all the knowledge it in our own studio project. It is one thing to learn about someone's project and another thing to apply it to your own. With the base and basics laid out in Assignment 1, along with the tropical building study, I was able to look at my studio project objectively and analyze the potentials for integrating passive green design principles. I learn how to pair the green strategy with the user needs and the targeted spatial quality.

Through this assignment, I learn that the possibilities are endless and there is still much to dive into in green strategies for building design.
