Assignment
Infographic
For this individual assignment, I had to choose one type of traditional or vernacular architecture (among four choices), analyze it and display the information in an A3 size infographic. The challenge is that I had to summarize a large amount of information into short but compact points. Those points must demonstrate that I understand the important characteristics and distinctiveness of that particular architectural style. Other than that, my ability to translate words into graphics was also tested.

Chosen Type: Vernacular Architecture of Southeast Asia
Reflection

The main reason I chose to research on the vernacular architecture of Southeast Asia is because among the choices given (trad. Chinese, trad. Indian, vern. Malay) I feel it is most geographically relevant and accurate to Malaysia and her neighbors. I wanted to gain more knowledge on Malaysia's neighboring context and how they influence the current and future architecture of Southeast Asia. By being more well-informed about the various Southeast Asian architectural styles, I can be more aware, versed and be able to grasp where other people (whether clients, architects or other professionals) are coming from if there ever be a discussion related to Southeast Asian architecture or its related elements. With that, I can be a better problem-solver and team player.
