Models and Tattoos: Expressions through Design Elements and Principles

element + principle

What is an element? The building blocks of design.

What is a principle? How those blocks are composed.

​

This first project explores the essence of the architectural language by exploring the different combinations of element + principle, indirectly prompting the mind to generate specific intentions and to visualize them in 3-D. To combine the elements with principles, specific design knowledge is needed in order to differentiate each element and principle. Models and tattoo stamps are produced to demonstrate understanding and the thoughts provoked by each combination of element + principle.

Through this project, I have gained a deeper level of understanding of each element and principle as well as honed my model-making skills. Moreover, tutorial sessions in the studio have improved my design communication skills, and introduced me to the basics of architectural jargon.
